DJ

So, I wanted to be a DJ. But when can you call yourself a DJ? Is it possible to call 'yourself' a DJ?  I really don't know but I call myself a DJ, since a couple of weeks. Why? Cause I've had my very first gig for an audience. And that was.. Amazing!! ;-) It wasn't in a club, neither a bar. It was 4 internet radio but live! And that was pretty cool. DJing rocks!!

Jouk from XT3-radio invited me to do a set, so I did. Very cool!! Thanks bud:-)

DJing is really a cool thing to do. It's so much fun and interesting as well. Last couple of years I mainly focussed on producing, but now I'm also into DJing. Ten years ago I started doing that in my bedroom, but I didn't take it that seriously. Now, I do. I have to, cause bills has to be payed. Via this way is magnificient and I hope that it will work out well.

I'm looking for a small club to play on a regular basis and hope to do some gigs as well at different places, this summer.

But if you want to make a living out of it, DJing is much more than only playing records. You really got breath music all day and night besides all the other things. But, I love it.

Aight, I'm gonna practise more and more and will search 4 the greatest and smallest (cool!) tunes around the globe. And will keep in touch with you via the internet or some day in real life..

I want to tell you something about Relativity Theory. It isn't about Physics, but of course... Music!. Cause Music Is The Answer ;-)

Music is relative!! More general, everything is relative. I mean you could see/hear things relative to other things. Nothing is good/bad or beautiful/ugly. Some ugly things could be beautiful as well, relative to other things.

A good example are two songs. If u play them in the right order, then both tunes are good. If it's not the right order, you could experience that the second track isn't good.

Djing is an underrated form of Art. A good DJ mixes well, plays the right tracks and last but not least in the right order.

Basically, if a DJ set  equals the melody then the record equals the notes. U understand?

I'll give you an overview:

A Melody consists of notes.

A sample consists of melodies (Or a sample is one melody:-).

A Tune consists of samples.

A DJ set consists of tunes.

People will appreciate a good melody.

Same thing for a sample (Actually, melody and sample could be equal:-).

A good track with a stolen sample won't be appreciated. Why not?

A DJ is nothing more than some Disc Jockey who plays tracks from other people...

In my opinion DJing is Art!!

I guess that after reading this story, you will appreciate a DJ more than without this knowledge.

So your knowledge is relative, too. Your respect to people, depends of knowing them. Never judge someone if you don't know him/her. Have a conversation, you could find gold :-)

I'm out and do respect you for knowing me a lil bit better,

Joost

P.S Here an example of two 'great' songs in the wrong order...                     :-)

Okay, I will answer this question. It’s very simple. It’s just…., Just! That’s basically it.

So, where does it come from? It comes from my original name, my parents gave me. Officially my name is Jan Joost. So, I deleted the ‘ Jan’ and substituted the ‘O’ for an ‘S’. You understand? Cool!

Okay, so what does it stand for? I was wondering what to do with my life and I’ve struggled for more than 10 years with that question. In the end I had an answer and that was: ‘I ‘just’ want to do music.

Okay, has  ‘Just/Jssst’ more meanings? Definitely, it has. I’ll name you a few:

Definition1: Conforming or conformable to rectitude or justice; not doing

wrong to any; violating no right
                              orobligation; upright; righteous; honest; true;

said both of persons and things.

I want to make true, honest tunes and try to respect everyone everywhere in any point of time.

Definition2: Precisely; exactly; in place, time,

or degree; neither more nor less than is stated.

I have a technical back ground and producing tunes is besides creative work also very technical. I like math. At school I was very good at it. At university, not. I kinda lose motivation. Not for pure clean mathematics. But mathematics and real life problems makes mathematics dirty, in my opinion. I like beautiful things. And some real dirty things can be beautiful as well. For example, noisssse. That can be music, if it is mixed properly. But with econometrics, the math wasn’t mixed well.

So, I can be very precisely and making tunes is very precisely work.

Definition3: Closely; nearly; almost.

I like the edgy style of life. That means music, art and life in general. I’m an open minded person and do like things that are on the edge of good/bad, ugly/beautiful, etc.

Last, but not least definition 2 and 3 are very contradictive, but the distance between them is small. And that’s another contradiction. it’s me, too!

This is who I am, nice to meet you :-)

First blog! It feels like having sex with a girl for the first time. Okay, before that I had some experiences with myself. So I have with blogging as well, cause I tweet. Some call it micro-blogging. This will be macro.
I will write here stories about my life and what's going on in my mind with more than XX characters.
We live in a fast world nowadays and the feed of information is infinite. So it isn't that strange that Twitter is pretty popular. It's short, clear and fast. Here I will take it more easy, cause you got all the time in the world. Basically you're the boss of your own life, so your time as well. Be yourself and live your life. I've decided to do that and live for the music, cause that is what really means to me. It isn't about money, it isn't about cars, it isn't about a huge house. For me it is about house Music and a 'Body and Soul' where I feel comfortable in. Then I can live in a room of 9 square meters, totally glad, jssst being happy!!! The feeling you got when you lost your virginity...
